Scholarship Available From AAFA-Deadline March 1st, 2011

02/08/11

The local chapter of Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, Greater Kansas City Chapter is offering a college scholarship.

The Greater Kansas City Chapter of the Asthma & Allergy Foundation of America’s Berri Mitchell Memorial College Scholarship application is now available online. These scholarships are given to high school seniors who are residents of Kansas or Western Missouri, have a history of asthma and/or allergies, have succeeded academically, and have shown an interest in their school and community. Each scholarship will be in the amount of $2,000.00 and will be sent to the college or university of their choice to help defray the cost of their education. Applications can be found on line at www.aafakc.org

The scholarship is given in memory of Berri Mitchell, RN, a nurse at Kansas City Allergy and Asthma Associates, who spent her adult life teaching others to manage their asthma. Teens were her special love, she spent many hours counseling and teaching teens, so it is appropriate that the scholarships bear her name.

All high school seniors who will be attending college during the 2011/2012 school year are invited to apply.

The deadline for applications is March 1, 2011.
